Welcome to IICIT
IICIT = International Institute of Connectors and Interconnect Technology
IICIT is united in a quest for excellence in electrical and optical interconnects. Our purpose is to foster critical thinking, to encourage innovation, to provide clarity to issues that match end user needs to product attributes, and to promote personal and professional growth for our members to help enrich their contributions to our industry.
You are invited to join us!
Nearly half a century ago, a group called the Electronic Connector Study Group, made up of engineers, suppliers, and reliability personnel, were working to instill rigor and excellence in the interconnect portion of electronic and optical systems. That group, originating in the Delaware Valley, transitioned into the IICIT, a mainstream trade association with interconnect technology and connectors as its primary charter. As companies downsized, outsourced, and reengineered themselves into more profitable entities in a worldwide competition that is the manufacturing business of today, the components engineer who was the mainstream of IICIT has become an endangered species. Inexperienced engineers entering the market today are encountering the same problems that were surmounted years ago.
IICIT has been reborn now to focus on teaching the lessons of the past, existing solutions steeped in reality and trial by fire, and in focusing on cutting-edge new initiatives for excellence. While the most recent annual IICIT Symposium and Expo was a financial success and well received by the attendees with a half day of symposium-style “basics” or legacy learnings and a second day of shared cutting-edge innovation, we felt the need to provide a broader audience to match the excellence of our speakers and technical papers.
Meanwhile, we have joined with the IWCS to gain this broader audience. The International Wire & Cable Symposium (IWCS) group is an excellent fit for our fiber optic and copper interconnect agenda and we anticipate that the richness of technical excellence that the IICIT papers have exhibited in years past will be a positive add to the existing wire and cable Symposium. With Symposium locations in Charlotte, NC and Providence, RI in alternate years, we have the broader audience.
The call for papers for our November Symposium is now open. Please click in the upper left hand box on this page to go to the information and submit your abstract for a technical paper, poster presentation or tutorital. We look forward to seeing you there!
